Chapter 4: Cinder

In this sci-fi take of the classic fairytale of Cinderella, 16-year old Cinder is a cyborg with no memories before she was 11. In a pandemic that is fatal to humans, she’s sold to the royal doctors as a test subject for the vaccine, where she learns that not only is she immune to the Blue Plague, she is not human at all, but instead a member of the hated people of the moon. She finds herself in danger, when the lunar Queen, and consequently her queen, finds out about her existence, making Cinder question her existence. This fascinating YA novel is the first installment to The Lunar Chronicles and will absolutely charm readers with the protagonist’s sarcastic and resourceful character as well as its themes of love, friendship, family, class struggle and duty.
