12 Angry Men (2018)

Twelve Angry Men is a play written by Reginald Rose concerning the jury of a homicide trial. It was broadcast initially as a television play in 1954. The following year it was adapted for the stage, and in 1957 was made into a highly successful film which was nominated for three Oscars. Originally all the actors were male. Since then it has been given numerous remakes, adaptations, and tributes. In 2007, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

The defense and the prosecution have rested and the jury is filing into the jury room to decide if a young man is guilty or innocent of murdering his father. What begins as an open-and-shut case of murder soon becomes a detective story that presents a succession of clues creating doubt, and a mini-drama of each of the jurors' prejudices and preconceptions about the trial, the accused, and each other.

Twelve Angry Men explores many techniques of consensus-building and the difficulties encountered in the process among a group of men whose range of personalities adds intensity and conflict. It also explores the power one person has to elicit change. No names are used in the film; the jury members are identified by number. The film forces the characters and audience to evaluate their own self-image through observing the personality, experiences, and actions of the jurors.

We invite you to join us in our journey of hate and death, of mystery and emotion, of justice and prejudice, of switch-knives and bigotry. And maybe, just maybe, you will find in these characters parts of yourself.
